Thomas worked at a boutique metal fabricating business in Auckland, New Zealand in 2009. He was responsible for designing and manufacturing a custom forged steel balustrade that was inspired by vines growing in nature.
The newel posts, top and bottom rails are hollow sections of steel that twist to gradually taper down and wrap around straight round bars that form the balusters.
Everyone’s favourite detail: the tiny mushrooms forged on top of the screw caps to conceal the screws.
